Stretch marks are caused by many things, some of them can be avoided, some of them can't. While prevention is better than facing the problem head-on, there are times where you can't because things won't always go your way.
Since these marks are common, there are many ways you can get rid of them. They can fade over time and it will take years. So you turn to other ways:
Using Stretch Mark Creams
If you are on a budget, some high-tech treatments are very expensive and can lead to some serious financial problems. Fortunately, there are less costly alternatives to expensive treatments like creams and other similar products.
Creams are cheap and can be an effective way to deal with your problems, some of them may not even cost more than if you were to drink a few cups of coffee at Starbucks.
Getting a Laser Treatment
Laser treatment is a simple solution and a very effective one. Different lasers work best on different stretch marks, and significant results can be seen with 3-5 treatment sessions. Some side effects include blistering, bruising, prolonged redness, lightening and darkening of skin, scarring, and removal of freckles.
They are expensive and a single treatment session costs a few hundred dollars, so multiple sessions will easily add up to thousands. These laser treatments work best with new stretch marks so while your striae are still red in color its best to have it treated right away.
The lasers have different ways of reducing the visibility of marks, some do it by fading, and another does it by changing the stretch mark's color to the same hue of your skin. If it is still not enough, you always have the option of going for actual surgery.
Having a Surgery
Other ways may not work and the best they can do is fade these marks to a certain degree, but surgery is the only choice for complete elimination. The "tummy tuck" is one such way, and its only performed on people who qualify.
This surgical procedure tightens the abdominal muscle and removes the excess skin along with the marks in the middle and lower region of the abdomen.
Plastic Surgery
Another type of surgery you can undergo is plastic surgery. This modifies your appearance and some methods of this surgery can go deeper than external cosmetic changes. The price varies on how much you want to get done, which can go up to tens of thousands of dollars.
